New critical infrastructure resilience programs from the Department of Energy are providing billions of dollars in first-time grant funding for cooperative projects among state and local governments, electric cooperatives, and private utility companies. Among these is the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) Program, a $10.5 billion investment in enhancing grid flexibility and improving the resilience of the power system against growing threats of extreme weather and climate change.
